A New Wrinkle in Science Fiction

Published May 6, 2016

I’m trying a new wrinkle in Science Fiction.  This story is placed in the future over a thousand years and the society in question is much more advanced than we are today.  However, the people in this society are still struggling with their relationship with God.  In fact, just like today, some of them do believe and some don’t.

The main character in the story, a smart female with a dangerous job, begins the story with what she believes is an unshakeable faith in a God who watches over mankind and protects those who are good.  Then she has a horrible event tear into her happy life.

Of course, the question is:  how will she deal with this?  I suppose you could also ask:  will she be able to retain her faith?

Now, I know for sure that she will be shaken very badly.  She will try to find a physical God or some creature or phenomenon that will answer her questions and give her reasons for what has happened.  That answers the question as to how she will deal with this.

Maybe the bigger question is whether she will retain her faith.  And I will freely admit that, right now, I’m not sure.  I’m over 100 pages into this manuscript and I just don’t know where that part of the story is going.

But, you see, that’s what’s exciting about writing.  Every time you write it’s a new experience and very often you’re not sure how it’s going to turn out.

If  you find this interesting, write to me.  I’d like to read what’s on  your mind.
